please forgive the children
they dont seem to know
when it is to come home
they are self polluting
and they are doing pills
it wasnt always like that you know
you gotta go hard now
before you get slowed down
if you dont use it
you lose it
so go on abuse it, oh
please forgive the children
cuz they dont seem to know
when it is to come home
please forgive the children
cuz they dont seem to know
the difference between fun and hell
and they shouldnt feel so guilty
this album isn't done yet but I will just add along as I go!
It has been a long time since I have released music that I actually want to share. That is largely in part to a Bjork interview I read during the new year into 2018. She said something along the lines, " Hey, try not to write a love song this year".
I'm paraphrasing since I can't find the article anywhere, but she said something like, women can create more than just love songs. Try talking about politics, science, or creating a character.
I really wanted to try to not make a love song, since a lot of my songs have been and I don't think I really even know what "love" is at this point.
Personally, I found it to be a very hard and daunting task. So much so that I kind of stopped making music altogether for two years. I realized that I didn't know what I wanted to talk about.
Although every song I have written has served as an outlet for me ( and I hope to one day again be flustered enough by someone I find super hot and charmy to write a love song about), it took me a long while to find stuff I wanted to talk about.
I am currently very inspired by the books I read, club kids, techno, biblical allusions, uncertainty, and human sexuality.
I don't mean this to sound cheesy. As this album isn't even finished yet and won't be, since I don't have the money to get it mastered. I just wanted to say and show that I am very happy and proud of myself. Not only have I been challenging myself as a songwriter, I have been testing my ability to teach myself to be a better musician/producer.
I like the fact that I have made this music on my own and can see the progress/ changes from when I first started making poetry/music over 10 years ago to now. This is still music that I make in my bedroom. My music is still like a diary to me. I hope one day that I can take this beyond my bedroom, but for now, just know that I made this with a lot of fun.
Thanks for reading. Thanks for listening.
